MARKETING GO

That’s right, Pokémon isn’t the only thing you can do on the go. Marketing is a 24/7 activity. It doesn’t matter if you are in the shower, at the movies, on vacation, in the middle of the ocean or even on a plane. Marketing is an ever-changing and very versatile resource that every company and individual have at their disposal. Marketing has so many aspects that it is impossible for us to cover them all right now. But in this article, we will primarily be discussing Network Marketing.

Network Marketing is the simple idea of growing both your personal and professional networks. Networking is the simple task of; connecting with those that you didn’t know before having encountered them. Networking is the process of acquiring these connections with individuals or companies that will enter your network. Some of the individuals or companies that enter your network may stay unbothered in your network for years. Other connections may be utilized immediately from being just a connection in your network to become a long time friend or even a permanent business colleague.

This is why networking is so important, because whether you need the connection now or later they will be there. Think of it like Facebook or LinkedIn. You may never talk to or connect with some of your friends on Facebook yet they are there. One day you may see a friend (member of your network) looking, for example, A new horse, well it just so happens that you are a horse trainer and you are trying to sell a new colt. Guess what? That Facebook friend (a member of your network) just moved from a simple connection or friend to a business connection.

In any capacity in your career, it is important to have a strong connections network. I have seen people find jobs, offered jobs, present to prospects, meet friends and much more.

Networking – Ways to a Successful Networking in a Company.

In a company, it is the responsibility of each and every member of the payroll staff to grow their networks and through it advertise and support the company. This is especially important for startup companies still trying to get off the ground. For those like me who are still advancing through the ranks of companies, when you interview someone for a position in your company you are not just looking for skills but rather the network that they bring to the company and the skills that they have and have their ability to acquire through training. A person with only skills can only help you with the work at hand, a person with just a network can only tell you about the work at hand, but a person with both a current network and the skills it takes to do the job as well as the skills to learn more can do the work at hand and prepare for the work ahead.

Networking begins at the simplest level. The people around you.

The Simple Network – This is the network you form with the people around you. Whether you are at on your way to work, hanging out at the local park or on vacation. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS. There are people around you every day that believe it or not, work in interesting career fields around the world. Do not pass up the opportunity to freely expand your network. I was told just the other day by a friend of mine about a recent connection he had while traveling in New York City for work. He was all dressed up from the meeting he just had and got in a cab. During the drive, the driver and he got to talking briefly and to my friend’s amazement, the cab driver was actually a wealthy CEO of a chain restaurant in the area. After hearing this my friend just had to know why he drove a cab when he could easily be laying on a beach somewhere… Here was the man’s response: “I learned a long time ago that a business without a network is pointless… So when I have free time, I drive a cab so that I can meet people like yourself.” My friend smiled traded business cards and left the cab still thinking about what the man had said. Later that month my friend closed a quarter-million-dollar deal through his connection with this cab driver. Don’t judge a book by its cover. You never know who you will meet or what they have to offer.

Another way of networking is the social connection.

The Social Network – Every day is a social day. Let’s all be honest for a minute, who doesn’t spend at least a half hour on social media every day? Most of us don’t even realize it but we do, and that’s OK. Despite what other people may say, this is a perfectly fine habit. This allows us to expand and continue our network as well as monitor what’s going on within this network. Think of social media as your live address book. It is always keeping you up to date and is the perfect way to grow your network and communicate and stay up to date with those within your network already. As a business owner, I am constantly surfing pre-established networks like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and many more. This allows me to keep expanding my network with people around the world. Now don’t get the wrong idea, you don’t want to just go and request everyone as a friend, but rather you must form a professional network and expand off of those already in your network. Look at LinkedIn for example, because this is a prime example. LinkedIn is an established network for professional that allows you to connect with those you know, those that your connections know and even suggests people that match your line of work.

You may also look at the call connection.

The Call Network – The call network is an effective yet time-consuming process. This is the process of calling individual companies to say hello, let them know what your company does and to let them know that if they ever need anything that they can feel free to call or email you with the contact information you provided. This also touches on branding as you are sharing with someone your company name and what it is that you do. However, the main idea here is to just let them know that you are in the area and that you do whatever it is you do. Chances are, no other company has ever called in the manner that you are calling and this will make it easier for them to remember you. You aren’t trying to sell them anything but you’re simply calling to introduce your company and let them know that you are available.

Now here is the fun part. The MARKETING GO!

This is the process of mixing all of these networking styles together to form the MARKETING GO. The process of merging your different style networks to form one large network and to be able to expand and continue this network from anywhere. Take these networking styles and blend them. Once you have done this, then you need to find a regular routine to keep. Just like a garden will die without attention, so will a network. If you don’t expand it, it will never go anywhere. If you don’t keep up with the network it will drift further and further apart.
